Passion, dream, create
The best thing about running a chalet business? It has to be reading the comments in our guestbook when we come back to the chalet and feeling the warm atmosphere in the house from all the happy times people have enjoyed there.
Chalet Chocolat sprung from a passion for the mountains, a love of Samoens and a desire to create the ultimate home from home facing the slopes. Since its conception and creation, our dream of running a successful chalet business with a commitment to quality, has been fulfilled.
Many years ago, I worked as a professional photojournalist and travelled extensively with my husband John, before settling down as a stay-at-home mother to our three daughters in Devon, England. John designed and built houses in our rural idyll for twenty years.
John’s focus has always been to create the most environmentally sustainable homes possible. As he was responsible for the construction of Chalet Chocolat, he ensured that it was done to his exacting standards. The costs spared by the self-build were invested in the superior quality of its construction, landscaping, facilities and furnishings and the chalet now accurately reflects that of a top-end chalet. John’s professional success is attributed to his attention to detail and Chalet Chocolat is no exception.

Between us, we have travelled much of the world, but the Samoens valley appeared to offer something uniquely special. Not only because we knew the ski region to be one of the most snow-sure in Europe, but because it has witnessed a decade of investment in high-speed infrastructure, culminating in the fastest and most comfortable lifts in Europe today. However, it’s not only the ski resort that has witnessed substantial funding. As the Samoens area sees itself as a year-round destination, it has invested accordingly, with numerous all-season activities on offer.
